FALCON RIDGE

This young family desired a house and landscape that was in tune with their lifestyle. The architectural design centers around large ‘view ports’ from the interior toward the garden and beyond to the surrounding landscape. These borrowed views appear as landscape paintings from inside the residence.

The landscape absorbs all the water on site through bioswales and extensive dry creek systems. This element is celebrated visually where a rocky swale flows under a glass bridge that connects the main house to the guest wing. The main outdoor living areas include a cantilevered deck, a fire pit and sitting garden, a large water stone reflection garden, and playful wild areas for their son Valin. With no automated irrigation in the built landscape, the native planting ensures self sufficiency over time.
